The Turkish Competition Authority Published Its 2025 Mergers and Acquisitions Outlook Report

The 2025 Mergers and Acquisitions Outlook Report (“Report”), published by the Rekabet Kurumu (“Authority”) on 7 January 2026, was made available on the Authority’s official website on the same date. The Report includes up-to-date statistical data regarding mergers, acquisitions and privatization transactions reviewed by the Competition Board throughout 2025.

The key highlights of the Report are as follows:

-In 2025, a total of 416 merger, acquisition and privatization transactions were reviewed by the Competition Board, representing a significant increase compared to 311 transactions in 2024.

-Excluding privatizations, 162 transactions involved target companies originating from Türkiye, with a total notified transaction value of approximately TRY 466.1 billion (USD 11.81 billion). This figure stands out as the highest value recorded since the publication of such reports began in 2013.

-During the same period, the total value of 19 privatization transactions reviewed amounted to approximately TRY 108 billion, bringing the total merger and acquisition volume to approximately TRY 574 billion.

The Report also provides additional statistical information regarding the geographical and sectoral distribution of transactions, as well as the duration of reviews conducted by the Competition Board.

Overall, the Report demonstrates that Competition Board scrutiny intensified in 2025, reaching the highest levels of the past thirteen years in terms of both the number and the volume of transactions.
